I Heard Mr. Young Sing About Him

I Heard Mr. Young Sing About Him
Well I heard ‘ole Neil put him down….

While it is sad that it takes someone from that other quagmire’s generation to release the first protest album for our current debackle of choice, at least we get a real album from one of the most important voices in the history of Rock n Roll.

On May 2nd, Neil Young will release “Living With War” — a 10-song collection that the artist describes as a “metal folk protest” — as a digital download album.

“This album is about exchanging ideas,” Young told CNN in a live interview last week on the steps of Warner Bros./Reprise Records in Burbank. “It’s about getting a message out. It’s about empowering people by giving them a voice. I know not everyone believes what I say is what they think, but red and blue is not black and white. We’re all together. It’s a record about unification.”

You can listen to Living With War Here.

Neil Young on CNN - A Video Discussing Living With War

“Living With War” has already set fans and the media abuzz over the Internet due to its reflections on the Iraqi war and the turmoil in this country.

It was written and recorded in two weeks with Young on electric guitar, vocals and harmonica, Chad Cromwell on drums, Rick Rosas on bass, and Tommy Bray on trumpet, along with a 100-member choir. One choir member, speaking to a British newspaper, said the recording session was “like being at a 12-hour peace rally.”

The Living With War Blog

While to my ears this does not stack up to the best of Neil Young, not much really does, it is far and away the best album I have heard from a 69 year old in quite some time. The third track is vintage Young - Don’t Need rails against the lies of Bish Co. as well as other things in the modern world that we clearly don’t need.

And it seems to me that the point of this record is not to try and rival Tonight’s the Night, Neil has got something on his mind ( and before you reject him as some long hair pinko fag you might want to do some research…) that he needs to share, and something that we need to hear.

Custom WordPress Theme WorkFlow

Since we are doing so many custom WordPress Themes, and since I seem to always answer the same type of queston, I decided to post the answer(s).

The cost of a custom WordPress theme is $350 with a $100 down payment.

You can paypal me at jtk at jtkconsulting.com if you have a paypal account, or I can invoice you from paypal and you can pay by credit card or e-check.

This is how the development process usually goes:

I’ll do a mock up and you can tell me what you like, don’t like, want changed, etc. I don’t mind making changes, going back to the drawing board even, whatever is needed within reason.

Eventually we get to a design that gets approved. I then cut it up and build a template on a staging site. Once we agree that the test site looks good I’ll zip up the theme and send it to you so that you can install it on your installation of WordPress.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

“In every country and every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot. They have perverted the purest religion ever preached to man into mystery and jargon, unintelligible to all mankind, and therefore the safer engine for their purpose.”

Open Iraq Debate

Open Iraq DebateAfter three years and the death of more than 2,300 American soldiers ( amd 17,000 wounded ) in Iraq, Congress has yet to consider, debate and vote on alternatives to the President’s disastrous course.

Right now, in the House of Representitives there is a resolution sitting on the House floor - House Resolution 543. If it is signed by 218 members it would stop the House in its tracks and force them to debate on the Iraq war.

Then the congresscritters would be forced to take an up-or-down vote on any proposed alternatives to the “stay the course” non strategy of Bush Co.

Your voice – right now – can make a BIG difference.

Why We Love Antiques

Joanne gave a speech at the local chanber of commerce the other day and was gracious enough to let Collectiblog re-publish it:

One day while I was scavenging through her pocketbook, I pulled out a gorgeous lace handkerchief, heavy enough that I knew something was in it. I carefully unfolded it and unwrapped what looked like diamonds and saffires.

Sarchasm WordPress Theme

We are happy to announce the release a new WordPress theme that we are calling Sarchasm. It is a minimal sort of theme that still had some attitude.

Tamara said that the other free themes that I have done are too “artsy”. Well, I can see that, but since I didn’t have to fit them inside the strictures of what some client wanted, I just did what I wanted.

Anyway, this is an attempt to not be artsy. I did cave into popular demand with this one and add a footer…
