Why Memphis Will Never Be Nashville or Atlanta

The Armchair Postmodernist Hillbilly has posted a nice little article about why Memphis is Memphis and will always be Memphis:

There has always been lots of discussion around the economic surge in Nashville and why Memphis has been mired in stagnation. Many people blame “white flight”…the movement of the upper middle class east of the city, to Germantown and Collierville and south to Desoto County.
But in reality Memphis voters, whoever they are, have held the future of Memphis in their hands for years

No New Clients until 2007

Hey Now - looks like I am not going to be able to accept any new work for the rest of the year. I need to spend the next month making sure that I get all of my current projects completed and my current clients happy.

So if you have a project that you would like to talk about, that can wait until after New Years, I’ll be happy to discuss it with you. If you have a project that needs to be completed asap your are going to have to look somewhere else.

So if you are a current client, hang in there, I am getting through my to-do list.

Network Me Baby

I want This Damn Blog to be part of some blogging network - I have my reasons, dammit. Obviously 9rules isn’t an option, they are still going through 1200 entries, and I don’t want to be part of some cheesy, schmucky, lets get rich on google ads type of network.

Is there some middle ground out there? Can anyone hook up this damn blogger with an appropriate blog network where I still own the content and am not told how/what to write? I’m not looking to get rich here, and even getting paid at all is not as important as being a part of a cool network.

If it was a network that used WP in any fashion, that would be a plus too.

Hot Yellow Girl

In the continual effort to get all of the content moved over from copacetix to this damn blog I have decided to post this venerible image - alternatively known as hot yellow girl and hot big girl.

When I originally posted this wallpaper on Copacetix I had folks contacting me asking me how to get in touch with her. Alas, the photo was just a stock image I got from SXC.

Do you remember back when CCMixter did the contest with Chuck D. feat Fine Arts Militia? I just found my entry, and since I did I thought that I would post it.

Las Vegas’ Neon Museum

Vegas Neon GirlOver on the Starling Travel Blog there is a good post by Laura Moncur about the Neon Museum in Vegas:

I only had one thing on my list for this trip to Las Vegas. I wanted to see the Neon Museum that’s on Fremont Street. I had never been to the Fremont Street Experience, which is a travesty since I’ve been to Las Vegas so many times. There were only two interesting things at the Fremont Street Experience. One of them was Deep Fried Oreos at Mermaids and the other was the Neon Museum.

The Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, study and exhibit neon signs and associated artifacts to inspire educational and cultural enrichment for diverse members of our international community.

Not sure how much cultural enrichment one would glean froma trip, but it sure does look fun.
