In what has to be one of the best Memphis area guides Dr Hoo’s Memphis Restaurants is a trustworthy guide to eating in Memphis.
Dr Hoo writes:
Sensing a great void in the lives of Memphians, my wife and I decided to start a blog describing our experiences at local restaurants. We eat out whenever we can and thought it would be fun to share those experiences with whoever is interested in Memphis food. We’ll see where this takes us!
The posts are easy to read and cover a large swath of restaurants in one of the best dining cities in the country. While their are other good memphis food blogs such as Squirrel Squad, Dr Hoo’s is what I read when I want to know what to eat in Memphis

The Armchair Postmodernist Hillbilly has posted a nice little article about why Memphis is Memphis and will always be Memphis:
There has always been lots of discussion around the economic surge in Nashville and why Memphis has been mired in stagnation. Many people blame “white flight”…the movement of the upper middle class east of the city, to Germantown and Collierville and south to Desoto County.
But in reality Memphis voters, whoever they are, have held the future of Memphis in their hands for years

Yep, that’s right, you can be the proud owner of The king’s Memphis home. This is the first house he bought when he made a little scratch. Elvis only lived there a short time, but come on, how often can you live in one of Big E’s homes!
The bidding begins on April 14th and the auction will run for a month. The address of this ranch style house is 1034 Audubon Drive, right near the university of Memphis campus.

If you get to Memphis, stop by The Bar-B-Q Shop and check out the unique taste of The Bar-B-Q Shop’s gourmet award winning sauces. The recipes for their gourmet sauces have been around for over fifty years. The Original (mild) Sauce provides a thickness that can be used to baste, marinade, or provide flavoring for your meat of choice.
Their Hot Sauce also provides the same level of thickness but with a little warmth behind it giving your meat a hot flavor ( that doesn’t sund quite right…. ) without taking away from the barbeque flavor itself.
If you do stop in Tell’em that Nick sent ya’.
