Custom WordPress Theme Design

Portfolio

This is where I keep some examples of the sites that I have designed, some mockups, and other samples so that you can get a feel for what I call design. If you are interested in having me do some design work for you, feel free to click on over to the contact page.

Bryan over at Keep Green Going has gone live with the custom WordPress theme that I created for him. Bryan is a terrific guy and this looks like it is going to be a kick ass site - great to see people like Bryan using WordPress for such a good cause.

Sometimes I still get to do very fun WordPress themes - in between the corporate WP theme design and the people that want a clean, minimal WordPress theme I get a client or two who wants something fun and gives me a little room to create something.

That’s exactly what Jeff over at People You’ll See in Hell did, he gave me some time and creative freedom and we created something that we both liked. His dedicated audience has been decidedly positive as well.

Matthew, of Category 5 Networks, says: It’s been a breeze to work with you! I have referred you to a multitude of people and companies, I hope they contact you as I really like your work!

I Love this simple, effective Theme that I created for a very cool guy in Spain named Mike. This is Mike’s site currently and this is what the theme looked like originally.

We were contracted to do a blog theme for a site called InDesign Secrets. The image on the left is what we originally mocked up for them, the thumbnail on the right is what they eventually went with. The header graphic in the revised version is something that they came up with, not something we did.

Yet another WordPress theme that I designed for a former client of Conlan’s: Homeland Security Leader. Red, white, and blue is not the easiest color scheme for me to work with, but I think this turned out rather well.

This is a WordPress Theme design that I created for a client of Conlan’s - Jeremy Enke. The client seems to be a very interesting dude and he has modified the design somewhat but I think you can still get an idea of what I was going for.

I hardly ever get to do dark themes so when I wanted to design something for myself for Roxor BlogI decided to go whole hog and create a shadowed black and dark grey theme. I think it turned out pretty well.

This is a design that I think turned out well in-spite of allot of client input :) Mark Miller is a great guy and a hell of a photographer. His clients come to him because they want photographs, by the time they’ve finished he’s given them so more. Friendship.

Here is a cool little design that I created for a great new service that the company that has bought out all of my consulting time is launching. It’s called Blog Leasing. Of course the original design was better ( it always is… ) but I think this compromise design is still good. I had to focus on this site being a glorified “landing page” so I went with the one column design with very little to distract the visitor from the message.

This is a design that I really like that I did for The Blog Mill’s Arizona Project called Arizona Parenting Online. It doesn’t look like they have moved in yet but I am sure that it will be filled with Arizona Parenting goodness soon.

This is a design that I did for a great gossip blog called Hot Mamma Gossip. I think it turned out really well and want to thank this particualr client for his patience.

Here is a cool theme that we did for a French language Mac news site called Mactualite. Looks like they are still moving in, so you can’t see a lot of the theme in action, but I am sure that they will have more content posted soon.

Charles Cuninghame is a fantastic copywriter in Australia that had some very specific ideas for his site called Text-Centric. When I was finished I got this message from him: “That’s brilliant! Thanks James. I’m really stoked with the site”.

This is a very interesting WordPress theme that I created for the Impact Coaching Institute that incorporates a number of customized plugins as well some external scripts and a membership system.

This is a WordPress Theme that we designed for a client of Alan Gutierrez - Nick Varrecchio who is running for Clerk of Criminal Court of New Orleans Louisiana. We tried to incorporate the traditional red, white and blue color scheme while still making the theme modern.

This is a mockup that we did for a great little app called Blaze Media Pro. We have preserved the original mock up so that you could see what we had in mind. This project was a little different because it was a one page “webvertisement” - note the lack of navigation.

This is a site design that we did for an A&R company in Atlanta called Demoline. We wanted to design something clean and fast loading - and developed to strict web standards. We we very happy with the way it turned out.

This is a challenging web project that we developed for a great little company in Atlanta called Dragon Iron Works. They make one of a kind iron furniture with a very unique finish. They wanted their website to “look like the finish on our furniture”. While that was difficult at best, they were thrilled with the results.

This is an older site that we did for a local company called DreamWorks Furniture. They make handmade furniture out of recycled Georgia Heart Pine - and again wanted the site too look like the wood. Since the heart pine is orange….
