WordPress Theme update

Since I had a user of my Independence Day WordPress theme ask me to update the theme to take advantage of WordPress 2.3’s tagging feature I went ahead and did the complete over haul and I am calling it version 1.4 and it is ready to download.

Some of the things that I did this time around:

  • Addded Dynamic title tag support
  • Added tagging support
  • Updated widget support
  • Small changes to the sidebar css
  • Added CSS support for the calendar widget
  • Added CSS support for the tag cloud widget
  • CSS tweaks for Safari compatability
  • cleaned up the form code

If I haven’t gotten around to updating your favorite JTk theme, I promise to get to as soon as life permits. If you want it sooner rather than later, bribes are happily accepted.

  2. Love the update. However, I’m having trouble with the toggle text display feature in the header. I tried it in Firefox and Safari and the problem seems to be there in both. You might want to check it out. Seems like a bug.

  3. Since you updated the template, we are having issues with our site, and can’t login. We have not updated to the new 1.4 version yet… and are wondering if doing so will undo our SEO edits.

What can we do to fix these error codes and get logged in?

    They all point to: wp-includes/widgets.php

Fatal error: Call to undefined function the_tags() in /home/small/www/www/wp-content/themes/independence-day-10/index.php on line 16

    PLEASE HELP!

  5. Hey Now - while I generally can’t provide free support I think this is a legitimate issue -

That error is because it is calling a new feature called tags. Tags are a feature in the latest versions of WordPress and I would suggest that you upgrade not just to use this template, but because of the significant security improvements.

That being said, the next time I dust this one off I will make the tags call conditional.

  6. I was having the same error. For now I just commented line 53 out and everything is fine.
